PBS is airing a six part (6 hours) series on the story of India beginning tonight (Jan 5 2009).

- About the series.
- Episode 1 - This episode looks at the earliest clues to the settling of India using DNA evidence, climate science, oral survivals, ancient manuscripts, archaeology, and exploration of the living cultures of the subcontinent.
- Episode 2 - This episode covers indian history during the last few centuries before the common era (2000 years ago).
- Episode 3 - The next episode in the story of India is of the early part of the common era, the time of the Roman Empire in the west.
- Episode 4 - The story of India in the Middle Ages.
- Episode 5 - India during the time of the Renaissance in Europe. It was the richest and most populous civilization in the world.
- Episode 6 - This is modern (relatively) history - from the British occupation through today.

( Comment posted on January 23rd, 2009 at 2:58 pm )Great documentary… but selective. Why no mention of Bimbisara and other Magadha kings? With all the emphasis on the northern provinces, he jumps from Indus valley civilization to the Buddha content with the disappearance of the IVC… surely some folks moved east or south… or better still, were there no civilizations east and south of Mohenjo daro and Harappa?
